About the Role
The Sober Support Unit Peer Recovery Coach engages individuals seeking substance use disorder (SUD) services and uses motivational interviewing to encourage continued participation in services.
Responsibilities
- Provide a warm and welcoming environment for individuals served.
- Deliver short-term, intensive, recovery-oriented services to adults experiencing a substance use crisis.
- Offer recovery coaching to help individuals engage and continue with withdrawal management or residential treatment services.
- Communicate hope and the possibility of recovery through group sessions.
- Contribute to a supportive atmosphere for individuals served.
- Engage actively with team members and other departments.
- Document interactions and progress accurately in the Electronic Health Record.
- Conduct intakes onto the unit.
- Refer individuals to appropriate access points.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- CCAR or State Certified Peer Recovery Coach certification.
- Experience in providing services to individuals with Substance Use Disorders, adults with Mental Illness, Children with Serious Emotional Disturbance, or adults/children with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities preferred.
- Experience in providing services in the public sector preferred.
Skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with contractors and community partners.
- Knowledge of healthcare systems desired.
- Familiarity with OCHN Substance Use Disorder and Core Provider Agencies and services.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Effective negotiation skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, database, and other relevant software programs.
- Core competencies: Integrity/Building Trust, Customer Focus, Continuous Learning, Work Standards, and Communication.
Additional Information
- Must have available means of transportation for required travel to OCHN and offsite meetings or site visits.
- Must be available for meetings and events outside of standard office hours.
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment.
- Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
