Full time, salaried position with a work schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:40 am to 3:40 pm at the SNU Lab School.
About the role
The SNU Lab School Classroom Teacher provides support to the instructional program within a multi-grade classroom. Responsibilities include teaching in a team environment, working one-on-one with students, and teaching small and large groups. The selected candidate will plan lessons aligned with state standards, teach creatively, and manage classroom supervision. A warm, friendly personality and sensitivity to students' needs are essential, along with alignment to the school's educational philosophy.
Responsibilities
- Promote a positive school environment and culture while maintaining professionalism and loyalty to the school.
- Serve the school community and act in the best interest of students in all duties and communications.
- Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, materials, and supplies.
- Treat all children with dignity and respect, maintaining confidentiality about students, families, and staff.
- Participate in additional duties such as lunchroom supervision and playground activities.
- Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and materials to support and reinforce learning goals.
- Administer classroom assignments to support the instructional process.
- Teach students individually, in small groups, and large groups to reinforce learning concepts and meet academic goals.
- Communicate with the teaching team to evaluate progress and implement classroom objectives.
- Monitor students in various settings (classroom, playground, field trips) to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
- Report observations and incidents related to student behavior, safety, or rule violations.
- Attend weekly planning meetings, monthly faculty meetings, and all professional development days.
- Participate in parent conferences and maintain communication with parents via calls, emails, etc.
- Work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain positive interpersonal relationships.
- Operate office equipment and provide quality customer service.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Profess faith in Jesus Christ, with a strong personal Christian commitment and alignment with SNU’s mission to make Christlike disciples through higher education in a Christ-centered community.
- Understanding of the importance of diversity, inclusion, and equity.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of two years of related work experience and/or relevant training.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Typing and spelling competency.
- Experience with various computer software applications and data entry.
- Good physical health and ability to perform assigned duties.
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal status.
Preferred Qualifications
- Early childhood and/or elementary/middle school certification.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with children and adults.
