About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Snowflake Data Platform Operations Engineer to join our Cloud Data Operations team. This role is responsible for the day-to-day support, operational readiness, and reliability of a Snowflake data platform environment. The ideal candidate will provide production support, participate in disaster recovery and operational readiness activities, and help ensure platform availability, performance, security, and compliance. This position bridges engineering and operations, requiring strong troubleshooting skills, Snowflake administration experience, and the ability to collaborate across teams to continuously improve platform stability and support processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level support for Snowflake platform applications, including incident triage, troubleshooting, resolution, and escalation.
  • Monitor platform health, availability, and performance using tools such as Splunk, Grafana, and Snowsight.
  • Participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) testing and operational readiness exercises to validate business continuity processes.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute operational runbooks for Snowflake support and recovery scenarios.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy platform updates, gather diagnostics, and support advanced troubleshooting efforts.
  • Manage Snowflake object lifecycle activities, including databases, schemas, roles, and permissions.
  • Administer identity and access management (IAM), including user provisioning, role management, SCIM integrations, and secrets rotation.
  • Support integrations with enterprise IAM platforms such as Entra ID (Azure AD) and HashiCorp Vault.
  • Create and maintain operational documentation, job aids, and training materials.
  • Utilize ITSM tools such as ServiceNow to manage incidents, problems, changes, and service requests.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and platform vendors to resolve issues and improve operational processes.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience supporting or administering Snowflake environments.
  • SnowPro Core Certification preferred.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with Python or Bash scripting for operational automation.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, Bitbucket, or Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools, including Terraform and Ansible.
  • Linux administration experience and familiarity with batch scheduling tools such as AutoSys.
  • Working knowledge of AWS infrastructure; Azure or GCP experience is also acceptable.
  • Experience with ITSM processes and tools, including ServiceNow.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Snowflake integrations with analytics platforms such as Power BI, Looker, or QuickSight.
  • Exposure to Snowpark Container Services, Snowpipe, and streaming data solutions.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake Cortex AI services.
  • Experience with CMDB platforms such as CloudAware.
  • Background supporting cloud-based data platforms in highly available enterprise environments.
