Extended hours may be required during major storm events. The season begins with the first measurable snowfall that cannot be handled by the small full-time crew retained year-round. There will be a period between accepting an offer and the first snowfall before work starts. Due to the on-call nature and overnight shifts, there is a zero-tolerance policy for not returning communication or showing up when contacted to work.

  • Operate a variety of snow removal equipment, including plow and box trucks, ATVs with plows, snow blowers, shovels, and e-pokes (salt spreaders), to ensure safe and efficient clearing of designated areas.
  • Work with sidewalk crews to complete snow removal assignments safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Requirements

  • 3 years of commercial experience using a plow truck or salt truck.
  • 3+ years of commercial snow experience using Skid-Steer, Front End Loader, Backhoe, or equivalent vehicles with plows and snow containment boxes.
  • A state-issued Chauffeur's license with no restrictions and a clean driving record for at least 10 years.
  • 18 years of age or older (21 if operating company-provided vehicles).
  • Ability to work well under pressure while observing safety guidelines.
  • Must have a smartphone to download and use the attendance tracker app.
  • Dependable transportation.
  • Attendance at and successful completion of required training, passing a background check, and passing a DOT Physical with Drug Test are mandatory.
  • Able to lawfully work in the USA.

Physical Demands

  • Possess strong stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
  • Safely operate landscaping equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers).
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, twist, stand, walk continuously throughout the day and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
  • Perform manual labor using a variety of hand tools (e.g., shovels, rakes).
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (e.g., safety shoes, high-visibility clothing, hand protection, eye protection, hearing protection, head protection).
  • If operating a BrightView fleet vehicle: valid driver's license and meet company standards per state motor vehicle record check.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays if needed.
  • Maintain required medications for any known allergic reactions at all times.

Work Environment

  • Shifts are on-call, ranging from 6 to 12 hours, often overnight depending on the storm event; longer hours may be required for larger storms.
  • Season starts on the first snowfall.
  • Work outdoors/indoors in moderate to extreme weather conditions (temperatures above 100°F, below 32°F, various humidity levels).
  • Work in direct sunlight for extended periods.
  • Work outdoors near automotive traffic, bodies of water, fumes, dust, mechanical and/or electrical hazards.
  • Extended periods of loud noise may be present.
  • Exposure to allergens (pollen, ragweed), insects (bees, spiders), and reptiles (lizards, snakes).
