Responsibilities

• Uses the nursing process to safely perform oncology patient care under general supervision of the MCI Director.
• Responsible for the continuity of care for patients receiving treatment.
• Provides consultation, patient, family, and staff education.
• Works collaboratively with the radiation oncologist, medical oncologist, referring physicians, and other staff members associated with the Mississippi Cancer Institute.
• Adjusts work assignments based on daily scheduled appointments and priority needs of patients, the medical director, or the director.
• Documents total care given, reviews and maintains patient chart, and assists with accurate and timely entry of patient data, orders, and charges into the computer system.
• Functions within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department and organization.
• Works and relates in a professional, non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors.

Schedule

Assigned to work up to 40 hours per week; weekend work, if needed, is rotated accordingly.
