About the role

Under the direction of the Dietary Director, the Dietary Cook prepares food for patients, staff, employees, and visitors of SMRMC Health System. The cook is responsible for all meal preparations based on physician orders and patient needs, adjusting recipes as required, and ensuring a clean and sanitary work area. The role requires functioning within approved policies and procedures, maintaining professional, non‑defensive interactions with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors, and completing yearly mandatory education as scheduled by the employee.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals for patients, staff, employees, and visitors.
• Follow physician orders and patient dietary needs when planning meals.
• Adjust recipes to meet specific patient requirements.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work area at all times.
• Adhere to approved policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Interact professionally and non‑defensively with colleagues, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors.
• Complete yearly mandatory education sessions as scheduled.

Schedule

The Dietary Cook works 80 hours per pay period and rotates every other weekend. Shift hours are Sunday through Saturday: day shift 5:00 am – 1:30 pm and evening shift 10:30 am – 7:00 pm.
