Smithfield Operations - Pesticide Applicator

Key Responsibilities

• Aid in planning and executing pesticide application services.
• Support field technicians and supervisors in daily operations.
• Participate in training programs covering various topics.
• Monitor job sites for quality assurance and compliance.
• Communicate with clients and team members to resolve issues.
• Manage day-to-day depot operations.
• Prepare reports and documentation related to pesticide applications.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment on operational and personnel matters.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree in agriculture, biology, environmental science, or related field preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Must possess or obtain an appropriate state-issued pesticide applicator license.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to complete necessary trainings and/or exams to obtain additional required licenses.

Outdoor and Environmental Requirements

• Routine outdoor work in extreme heat, high humidity, and full sun exposure.
• Routine outdoor work in extreme temperatures, wet/humid environments, and/or with vibration.
• Extended periods of standing, lifting, bending, kneeling, and walking while carrying up to 75 lbs.
• Work on uneven, slippery, or inclined terrain and in environments with insects, brush, and dust.
• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including tight-fitting respirators, for extended periods.
• Flexible scheduling, including early morning start times and extended shifts during peak season and weekends.

Physical Requirements

• Intensity: Heavy
• Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds or force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Ability to work outdoors, in extreme temperatures, wet/humid environments, and/or with vibration.
• Ability to work in an office environment.
