SME Systems Engineer - API (TS/SCI w/ CI Poly required)

About the role

This position serves as a SME Systems Engineer focusing on API development within a secure cloud environment. Expertise in API gateway technologies, particularly Broadcom API experience, is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain robust API gateways in cloud environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable API solutions.
• Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices.
• Conduct thorough testing and validation of APIs.

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a STEM field.
• DoDD 8140 requirements met (Security+ CE Certification).
• Expertise with Windows platforms and COTS applications.
• 5+ years of API gateway technology experience.
• Strong understanding of API design principles and security best practices.
• Programming proficiency in Java, Python, or C#.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Agile development environment experience.
• Solid engineering rigor.
• Expert troubleshooting and solutioning skills.
• Experience with Cloud architecture and system design.
• Demonstrated experience with system testing and validation.

Qualifications

• API-related certifications (AWS Certified Developer, Azure API Management Certified).
• Broadcom API gateway technologies experience.
• Service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd) experience.
• Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience.
• Cloud solution optimization experience.
• Experience with ServiceNow.
• Familiarity with customer system security requirements and processes.
• Experience with virtualized applications and application streaming or layering techniques.
• Experience leading and overseeing a total system perspective.
• Experience designing APIs such as REST or GraphQL and event-driven systems.
• Experience with API Gateways, catalogs.
• Experience integrating complex systems using APIs, message queues, streaming platforms, and ETL pipelines.
