Small Container Driver - CDL (B)

About the role

A Driver‑CDL (B) is responsible for safely operating a collection truck and providing prompt, courteous and complete waste removal services for customers. This includes performing pre‑ and post‑operation inspections, ensuring vehicle compliance with company safety standards and all state/federal regulations, completing daily vehicle condition reports (VCRs), and maintaining productivity standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete pre‑ and post‑operation inspection of the vehicle per company policy (tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, controls).
• Report any safety issues on standard reports.
• Safely operate the heavy truck along the designated route and to the disposal site; read route sheet, follow map, service each customer as identified or as assigned by dispatcher/supervisor.
• Operate manual and/or automatic controls per company safety policies to lift and load refuse, operate compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
• Courteously interact with customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure timely, professional service.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers per departmental procedures.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
• Clean area around accidental waste spills, adhering to all safety standards and policies.
• Continuously monitor vehicle condition to ensure operational readiness; clean waste from packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip.
• Complete required route/productivity sheets, VCRs, and other reports as required.
• Maintain adherence to required productivity standards for timely, efficient customer service.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Actively participate in the Company’s ReSOP program.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s license with air brakes endorsement.
