Small Business Specialist - Metropolitan Council

About the role

The Small Business Specialist (Equal Opportunity Consultant I) supports and assists in promoting and administering the Council's small business programs.

Responsibilities

• Engage with employees, small businesses, residents, and stakeholders to promote equitable access to programs, activities, and services.
• Support the development and implementation of initiatives aimed at advancing civil rights and inclusivity.
• Provide guidance and resources to ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
• Collaborate with other departments to integrate small business perspectives into Council strategies and operations.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of civil rights and small business issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of related experience preferred.

Skills

• Knowledge of civil rights laws and regulations.
• Experience with small business development and support.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
