About the role

This position covers underwriting roles for Direct, Indirect, or Small Business Lending. The role is primarily responsible for new loan application analysis, underwriting, and declination review, impacting long-term company goals and objectives. The incumbent plays a major role in acquiring loan assets while utilizing appropriate risk management discipline.

For this position, we will accept four (4) years of commensurate experience or two (2) years of commensurate experience with an associate degree in lieu of the education requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews loan applications from consumers and small businesses within the Bank’s delivery channels or directly through dealer channels to evaluate risk and determine acceptance.
  • Verifies application information for accuracy and completeness by validating loan data against provided documentation, ensuring proper ordering to mitigate risk.
  • Analyzes a broad array of credit-related information, including repayment capacity, collateral valuations, credit histories, banking relationships, and regulatory impact to reach final credit decisions.
  • Ensures compliance with the Bank’s underwriting policies and procedures, including regulations regarding declinations and timely notifications.
  • Develops partnerships with loan processors and Bank branch personnel to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Maintains customer relationships developed by loan originators, including Bank branch personnel and Business Development Underwriters.
  • Performs tax return analysis to assess self-employed borrowers’ income.
  • Obtains and compiles credit histories, corporate financial statements, tax returns, collateral valuations, and other financial information.
  • Reviews appraisal reports for accuracy and completeness and takes responsibility for final document approval.
  • Educates Bank personnel on policy, credit risk tolerance, and regulatory factors related to loan issues.
  • Stays informed about new loan types and financial products to better meet customer needs.
  • Approves loans up to a set loan authority.
  • Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
  • Serves as a risk manager by understanding, reporting, responding to, managing, and monitoring daily risks as required by F.N.B. Corporation’s risk management program.
  • Adheres to regulatory laws and guidelines to ensure compliance, a required component of all roles.

Requirements

  • BA or BS degree (or equivalent experience: four (4) years of commensurate experience, or two (2) years with an associate degree).
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
