Small Animal Veterinary Technician Supervisor
Job Summary
The Lois Bates Acheson Veterinary Teaching Hospital within the Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Small Animal Veterinary Technician Supervisor. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise veterinary support staff by recruiting, training, scheduling, evaluating performance, fostering professional development, and ensuring appropriate staffing coverage.
- Oversee service operations and regulatory compliance by maintaining hospital policies, safety standards, quality protocols, and collaborating with hospital leadership on operational initiatives.
- Manage clinical equipment and resources by identifying equipment needs, coordinating procurement and repairs, evaluating products, identifying and working with vendors, and maintaining service-specific supplies.
- Career and client services by managing admissions, discharges, scheduling, case assignments, medical records, financial estimates, client education, and communication with referring veterinarians.
- Provide advanced veterinary nursing care and student instruction by carrying out clinician-directed treatments, diagnostics, medication administration, patient monitoring, emergency interventions, and documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Support surgical and medical procedural services by preparing patients and operating rooms, assisting during procedures, maintaining sterile technique, monitoring patients, and coordinating post-operative care and room turnover.
Qualifications
- Current certification as a Veterinary Technician and ability to obtain and maintain Oregon Certification within six months of hire date.
- 3 years experience as a CVT.
- Effective written/verbal communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships within a team with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively instruct others in veterinary techniques.
- Ability to work independently and practice good judgement to ensure high quality care.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and be an active participant in problem-solving and team advancement.
Prefered Qualifications
- VTS in a Small Animal specialty.
- Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role.
- EzyVet/Vet Radar experience.

Starting Salary

Pay
$80,000 - $96,000
Schedule
This position is normally 8am to 5pm, though the work schedule may shift as needed to provide technician coverage on weekends, evenings, and holidays; overtime may be required.
