Slitting Machine Operator - 2nd shift

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Slitting Operator is responsible for setting up the machine, running production of the slitter, cleaning of the slitter and all maintenance on the slitting machines. This position is responsible for operating machines to slit continuous lengths of laminated film into specified widths that meet your customer quality specifications. This role would also be responsible for packing off the slitter for shipping, when required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain personal compliance with all company Quality System, Operational, and Human Resource policies, procedures, and practices, including Safety and completes required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Met or exceed prescribed job standards for line speeds, scrap and set-up times.
  • Review work instructions and procedures that are applicable to the position.
  • Perform changeovers.
  • Reports any unsafe working conditions to the production supervisor.
  • Cleans the machines daily; organizes machine and material parts during closing operations.
  • Reads job specifications and previous run data (if available) to determine machine adjustments and material requirements. Ensures job is in order prior to machine set-up.
  • Ensure the proper packaging materials are used for each product being produced.
  • Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction. Makes corrections to alleviate out of specification products.
  • Measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  • Performs required quality testing on products produced and any required Quality Control checks and data entry.
  • Performs machine maintenance and perform PMs on equipment.
  • Affords assistance and works cooperatively with assistant machine operators to stack, mark, pack, and transport finished boxes.
  • Makes recommendations to supervision and management for improvement of production in terms of efficiency and workflow.
  • Maintains production reports.
  • Trash and trim removal.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Turns on auxiliary and other equipment as needed.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Simple mathematical ability for reports required.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to read a ruler.
  • Mechanical skills and use of basic hand tools.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • 1-3 years in production field related to manufacturing or digital printing, but not required!

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is around, moving mechanical parts and vibration.

PAY RANGE

20 - 22 USD per hour (Philadelphia)
