About the role
Operate slitting equipment to meet finished-product specifications and quality requirements. Perform data entry to label and tag all slit material, and ensure overall quality of the slit product.
Training takes place Monday–Friday, 7 am–3 pm. After training, the position transitions to either the 3 pm–11 pm or 11 pm–7 am shift.
Responsibilities
- Perform all duties to established safety standards.
- Set up, adjust, and operate slitter equipment to minimize waste.
- Operate material-handling equipment to place and transport coils.
- Meet change-over and production standards and schedules.
- Identify quality defects (solvent pops, roll lines, starve-out, etc.).
- Produce slit material according to specifications and quality requirements.
- Complete accurate production reports.
- Collaborate with slitter-team members to complete work orders.
- Review scheduled orders with supervisor to determine production priorities.
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficient in reading and writing.
- Basic math skills and ability to use a calculator; must pass company math test.
- Capable of lifting at least 50 lbs.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing plant with dirt, dust, and seasonal temperature fluctuations; minimal fans and heaters.
- Large machinery with moving parts, forklift traffic, and material storage.
- Unscheduled breaks; machinery must be attended at all times.
Schedule
Full-time, 24/7 operation. Premium pay for Saturdays and Sundays; shift differential when applicable.
