Slitter II (C shift - 12-Hr Nights)
About the role
The Slitter Operator sets up and operates a manual slitter and/or automatic slitter and associated packing lines. This position follows safety rules and work instructions while fulfilling shop floor work orders to achieve consistent quality of slit products; maintains production records on simple forms; troubleshoots and problem-solves; and participates in activities designed to improve quality or lower manufacturing costs.
Responsibilities
- Sets up and operates slitter according to established procedures
- Maintains safety, housekeeping, and preventive maintenance programs
- Ensures finishing equipment is working correctly, troubleshoots, performs safety inspections, completes required documentation, performs preventative maintenance on assigned equipment, and initiates work orders for repairs
- Instructs trainees in all phases of slitter operation and record keeping
- Reads simple measurements, gauges, and meters
- Records output results on required documents and/or into computer
- Performs yardage checks, records results, and sets slitter yardage counter
- Reads tags to ensure that proper materials are retrieved/used
- Issues hold tags; sends samples to lab
- Ensures correct materials and supplies are retrieved for optimum quality
- Maintains manual and/or electronic production records
- Performs equipment change-over and splices
- Performs data-entry on SAP
- Participates in S4 continuous improvement team meetings and projects
- Applies S4 concepts to work cells
- Communicates any equipment problems and maintenance issues from shift
- Applies all safety rules when entering the manufacturing facility
