About the role

Barfield, a subsidiary of Air France Industries KLM Engineering, is seeking a dedicated Slide & Oxygen Technician to support our Operations Department. Founded in 1945, Barfield operates six facilities near airports in Miami (MIA), Phoenix (PHX), Louisville (SDF), Atlanta (ATL), and Doral (MIA), serving customers operating commercial or regional aircraft across North, Central, and South America. As part of the AFI KLM E&M network, we provide technical support ranging from airframe maintenance to engine overhaul and component repair.

Responsibilities

  • Using FAA-approved data, pretest, disassemble, repair/overhaul, assemble, and final test aircraft components, including slides, rafts, oxygen cylinders/tanks, oxygen masks, and similar components.
  • Report to the Shop Lead Technician or Shop Manager.
  • Learn new skills to advance within the company while following company policies and procedures.
  • Routinely lift and manipulate heavy objects.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; technical college or military training is a plus.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English, with knowledge of basic math.
  • Capability to follow written instructions using schematic diagrams, Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs), Airline EOs, and other FAA-approved technical documents.
  • Willingness to learn the use of basic test equipment, including pressure gauges, hydrostatic testers, micrometers, dial indicators, torque wrenches, calipers, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Adaptability to new concepts, processes, and technical capabilities.
  • Dexterity with hand tools.
  • Mindful and proactive regarding safety procedures, including hazard identification and adherence to shop processes for personal and team safety.
