Sleep Tech Trainee or Experience PSG Technologist
About the Role
The UVMMC Sleep Program is looking for eager and engaged applicants for both Sleep Technician Trainee and Experienced PSG Technologist positions. A sleep technician performs comprehensive sleep testing and analysis, and associated interventions under the general supervision of a senior sleep technologist and/or the medical director.
The Sleep Technician Trainee role is the first step towards a career in Sleep Medicine. Once the orientation period is completed, the Trainee will be eligible for promotion to Sleep Technologist I.
Responsibilities
- Perform electrodiagnostic and polysomnographic testing, including but not limited to EEG, portables, and CPAP titration, as ordered by physicians according to established protocols and national ASET & APT guidelines.
- Under supervision during the training period, with potential to perform tests independently at approved points in training.
- For PSG Tech I: Perform sleep studies on all age groups and appropriately score records per AASM guidelines.
- Demonstrate excellent skills in sleep study scoring, data acquisition, troubleshooting, bedside manners, mask fittings, and patient education.
Requirements
- For Trainee: Associate of Science degree and/or 3-5 years of directly relevant patient care experience.
- For PSG Tech I: Associate's degree, preferably in a science field, and/or successful completion of a CAAHEP-accredited Sleep Technology Program. A bachelor's degree is preferred, and/or 3-5 years of healthcare experience in a direct care position.
- Healthcare background preferred for both roles.
- For PSG Tech I: Experience as a PSG technologist with skills in sleep study scoring, data acquisition, troubleshooting, bedside manners, mask fittings, and patient education.
Pay
- Sleep Technician Trainee: Starting at $21.22 per hour and up.
- PSG Tech I: Starting at $26.01 per hour and up.
- Eligible for night differential pay.
