Sleep Scientist

About the role
The Alfred Sleep Disorders and Ventilatory Failure Service is committed to providing a high-quality clinical service and is actively involved in Sleep Medicine Research. We are seeking candidates with an appropriate science/psychology degree or who have a nursing degree to work as a Sleep Scientist in our Sleep Laboratory that is open Monday – Thursday night inclusive. The successful candidate will be required to cover shifts when other staff may be absent.
Responsibilities
- Perform physiological monitoring and sleep studies
- Interpret ECGs and conduct ABG sampling
- Work independently and as part of an integrated team
- Accommodate change and demonstrate flexibility
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science or Psychology (or nursing degree)
- Excellent communication skills and professional patient interaction
- Basic computer knowledge
- Task-focused, highly motivated, and able to show initiative
- Quick to learn, reliable, and adaptable
Skills
- Physiological monitoring (desirable)
- ECG interpretation (desirable)
- ABG sampling (desirable)
- Previous experience as a Sleep Scientist (advantageous)
