Slavimo 35 godina unapređenja sjeverno-središnjeg Wisconsina
Founded on January 22, 1987, as the Wausau Area Community Foundation, this public foundation—now known as the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin—celebrates 35 years of connecting the passions of people who want to make a difference with the needs of nonprofit organizations to impact the local community. Community foundations are one of the fastest-growing philanthropic sectors in the United States, building and strengthening communities in numerous ways, including providing donors with a broad range of funds to address critical needs.
Donors of all types find community foundations an ideal vehicle for their philanthropy, offering opportunities to give back to the community. "Community foundations are the face of philanthropy. Their strength and ingenuity have positioned them to better serve their communities," said Tim Parker, President/CEO of the Community Foundation.
Since its inception, the Community Foundation has grown to an asset size of $89 million. "We remain true to our original intent from 35 years ago—to create a community foundation that helps shape and sustain the future of our region and act as a leader in addressing the ever-changing needs of our community. Every donation we receive and every grant we award is an investment in that future," Parker said.
About the Foundation
The Community Foundation currently manages over 400 funds, including unrestricted funds, donor-advised funds, designated funds, field-of-interest funds, fiscal sponsorships, nonprofit agency funds, and scholarship funds. Over the past 35 years, more than $89 million has been distributed from these funds to nonprofit organizations and charitable causes across north-central Wisconsin, with a focus on education, the arts, health and human services, and the preservation of historical, cultural, and natural resources.
The Foundation has been involved in many major community improvement projects, both as a fund administrator and as a financier. Notable projects include Woodson YMCA, The Women’s Community, Humane Society, ArtsBlock, Boys & Girls Club of Wausau Area, and Community Partners Campus.
By encouraging individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to create and contribute to endowed funds, the Community Foundation has embedded "forever" into the charitable future of north-central Wisconsin.
