Slalom Flex (Project Based) - Data Engineer (Microsoft Fabric)

What You’ll Do
- Partner with the Enterprise Data Architect to define user stories, analyze data requirements, and develop source-to-target mapping specifications.
- Design and develop integration patterns and data pipelines to support data ingestion, transformation, and migration into Microsoft Fabric.
- Develop data migration solutions for Microsoft Fabric, including technical design specifications, unit testing, and support for test case development and execution.
- Analyze existing data models and reporting solutions to define migration requirements and identify necessary design changes.
- Define the approach for migrating existing data models into a Power BI semantic layer.
- Design domain-driven semantic models that enable self-service reporting, analytics, and Power BI dashboard consumption.
- Assess legacy reports and define the appropriate migration and redesign approach.
- Design and develop Power BI reports and dashboards that provide equivalent or improved functionality compared with legacy reporting.
- Support end-to-end validation of Microsoft Fabric data integration, migration, semantic models, and reporting solutions to ensure data quality and alignment with business requirements.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience designing and developing data integration, ETL/ELT, and migration solutions within modern cloud data platforms.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft Fabric is required, including Data Factory, Lakehouse, Warehouse, and related data services.
- Advanced Power BI development experience, including semantic modeling, DAX, report development, and dashboard design.
- Knowledge of data architecture principles, data modeling, and source-to-target mapping methodologies.
- Experience analyzing and modernizing legacy reporting and business intelligence environments.
- Understanding of domain-driven data modeling and self-service analytics best practices.
- Proficiency in developing, testing, and validating data migration and reporting solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Experience collaborating with architects, business stakeholders, and technical teams in agile delivery environments.
- Commitment to data quality, governance, and delivering scalable, business-focused analytics solutions.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $50/hr to $70/hr. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors.
