About the role
As a Skills Instructor, you'll work directly with adults with developmental disabilities, helping them cultivate essential skills for successful employment, meaningful volunteer work, pursuing post-secondary education, and active community participation in various settings to achieve greater independence.
What You'll Do
- Provide person-centered instruction through planned community activities
- Support individuals in accessing community resources, planning engaging activities, and strengthening their skill sets
- Take individuals on community outings—whether for appointments, errands, or just to enjoy the day
- Track and document progress, capturing accurate and concise case notes
- Redirect inappropriate behaviors and facilitate positive resolutions to challenges
- Work collaboratively with a team of professionals to ensure comprehensive support
What You Bring
- A caring heart and a commitment to helping others live with dignity and independence
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- A valid driver's license, personal vehicle, and insurance
- Willingness to undergo a state and federal fingerprint background check
- CPR Certification and a recent TB test (we can help you obtain both if needed)
- Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus—but if you bring passion and dedication, we'll provide the training
