About the Role
A maintenance apprentice works alongside fully qualified maintenance journeymen to learn the skills of the trade. Responsibilities include assisting with installing equipment, maintaining mechanical systems, and repairing machines.
Responsibilities
- Log 2000 hours of on-the-job learning each year to gain the necessary skills to advance to the next level of the apprenticeship.
- Complete 144± hours of formal training annually at MCC (Montcalm Community College) with a "C" letter grade or higher.
- Maintain a written logbook of skills worked on and learned, validated by the mentor regularly.
- Work side-by-side with a maintenance journeyman for hands-on learning and to ensure safe procedures are followed when working with presses, welders, robots, and other industrial machinery throughout the plant.
Requirements
- Must be of legal age for the trade(s) covered (in no case less than 18).
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Able to physically perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Take enrollment test at MCC (Montcalm Community College) and submit passing grades along with application to HR.
- Able to enroll in necessary classes for the apprenticeship program.
