About the Role

The primary purpose of your position is to maintain the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures, and as directed by your supervisor, to assure a successful maintenance program is maintained at all times.

Pay

$18.03 - $20.03 per hour, bi-weekly pay.

Schedule

6:00 PM - 6:30 AM, including some weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure maintenance schedules are followed for your shift.
  • Receive and follow maintenance instructions from Director of Maintenance in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Respond to building and/or cottage fire alarm system and take appropriate action when the fire alarm system sounds.
  • Notify the supervisor in case of emergency.
  • Perform routine ground maintenance including mowing, trimming, pruning, sweeping, snow removal, watering plants/flowers, etc.
  • Replace all burned-out light bulbs with particular emphasis on night lights, call lights, and exit lights.
  • Maintain building and campus security, including assistance with any unauthorized person in the facility.
  • Ensure exterior doors are locked in accordance with department policy (Night Maintenance personnel only).
  • Patrol main campus and Cherry Lane campus twice a night (Night Maintenance personnel only).
  • Transport residents as needed.
  • Deliver specimens to the hospital as requested by the Nursing Department.
  • Keep service vehicles clean and well maintained, ensuring preventative maintenance and inspections are performed as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance on the facility including light plumbing, light electrical, painting, carpentry, mechanical tasks, etc., as directed by the Maintenance Director.
  • Wash windows and change HVAC filters as scheduled.
  • Run job-related errands as requested by your supervisor.
  • Dispose of all garbage as needed and/or directed by the supervisor.
  • Dispose of all hazardous materials in a safe and sanitary manner in accordance with facility policies.
  • Inform the Director of Maintenance of any equipment or supply needs.
  • Perform all other maintenance tasks and duties as instructed by the Maintenance Director.
  • Attend and participate in all pertinent in-service programs and on-the-job training programs.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years old with at least a high school diploma or GED and/or experience commensurate with the position.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be able to work harmoniously with residents and members of the staff.
  • Must be able to lift loads in excess of 50 lbs. and perform hard physical labor including lifting, pulling, stooping, bending, twisting, furniture moving, snow shoveling, etc.
