Skilled Laborer

About the Role

This position involves physical labor at construction sites, assisting other workers and operating various tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards
• Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools and distribute them to the appropriate locations
• Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones (with appropriate training provided)
• Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials (with appropriate training provided)
• Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes
• Enter trenches and/or confined spaces after receiving proper training
• Understand and comply with safety considerations as directed by the Foreman/Supervisor
• Operate hand and power tools, including air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and other tools
• Erect scaffolding and clean up rubble and other waste materials

Requirements

• High school diploma preferred
• On-the-job training required
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination to assess overall health, fitness, and capability to perform essential duties safely
