Skilled Laborer
About the role
Laborers are responsible for cleaning and preparing construction sites for the erection of structures and buildings. Duties include:
- Unloading and loading materials
- Tending machines
- Mixing and pouring concrete
- Assisting carpenters, equipment operators, and other construction site workers
- Serving as choker setters, concrete crewmen, demolition laborers (including salvaging materials, loading, cleaning up, wrecking)
- Acting as dump men, flagmen, fence erectors and installers (other than chain link), including installation and erection of fences, guard rails, medial rails, reference posts, guide posts, and right-of-way markers
- Stripping forms, performing general labor, riprap work, scale operations, stake jumping
- Moving structures, including foundation work, separation, preparation, cribbing, shoring, jacking, and unloading
- Working as water nozzlemen, truck loaders, water boys, or tool room attendants
