Skilled Laborer

Job Summary

A skilled laborer performs a variety of general labor tasks that require skill and specialized techniques. Responsibilities include daily cleaning of job site areas and equipment, ensuring work areas are clean, safe, and ready for construction activities, loading, unloading, and identifying building materials, machinery, and tools, installing and maintaining E&S controls, digging, compacting earth, and backfilling holes, measuring, cutting, or shaping materials, operating construction off-road vehicles, erecting concrete forms and scaffolding, assisting in the installation and startup of advanced mechanical systems, following safety protocols, assisting tradesmen in completing assigned tasks, and working in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Daily cleaning of job site areas and equipment.
• Ensuring work areas are clean, safe, and ready for construction activities.
• Loading, unloading, and identifying building materials, machinery, and tools, and distributing them to the appropriate locations.
• Installation and maintenance of E&S controls.
• Digging, compacting earth, and backfilling holes by performing manual labor, including digging trenches, filling pits, compacting soil, and backfilling excavated areas.
• Measuring, cutting, or shaping materials to the specified measurements.
• Practicing and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
• Assisting in the installation and startup of advanced mechanical systems.
• Operating construction off-road vehicles when required.
• Erecting concrete forms and scaffolding.
• Following safety protocols while using equipment.
• Taking direction from supervisors and following construction plans.
• Assisting tradesmen in completing assigned tasks.
• Willingness to learn from more experienced craft to become more proficient and knowledgeable.
• Reading and understanding basic measurements and plans.
• Assists in creating a positive and safe work environment.
• Be coachable and learn from team members.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

• Complete assigned training in a timely fashion.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work in an active outdoor construction site environment.
• Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
• Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
• Must be able to work in various weather conditions and be exposed to dirt or dust.
• Must be able to wear the required personal protective equipment while at work.
• Must be able to lift and carry 25lbs regularly and 50lbs occasionally.
• Must be able to work for long periods of time while standing.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license.
• Basic construction experience.

Pay and Benefits

• The pay range for this role is $19.23-$24.04 per hour.
