Skilled Asphalt Laborer

About the role

Performs a variety of manual labor and equipment-related tasks associated with asphalt paving, patching, grading, and roadway construction projects. Works closely with crew members and equipment operators to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality asphalt operations.

Responsibilities

• Preparing work sites
• Operating heavy machinery (if needed)
• Applying and smoothing hot asphalt mix to exact thickness and slope specifications
• Ensuring traffic safety
• Site preparation
• Material application
• Equipment operation
• Joint and surface finishing
• Cleanup and maintenance

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work on uneven terrain
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to work extended hours, including overtime, when required
• Must be able to use hand tools such as rakes, lutes, shovels, and tampers to spread and smooth asphalt
• Knowledge of road regulations, flagging, and OSHA safety standards
