Skillbridge Firefighter - Job Training Program

About the role

The City of Richmond Hill Fire Department offers a firefighter certification training program as part of the DoW SkillBridge Program. This initiative provides military service members with valuable civilian training and employment opportunities as they transition out of the military.

Responsibilities

• Prepare to perform fire suppression and emergency rescue services.
• Participate in a 13-week training program, Monday-Friday from 0800-1600.
• Upon completion, achieve certifications in NPQ Firefighter 1, NPQ Hazmat Awareness, NPQ Hazmat Operations, and NPQ Firefighter 2.

Requirements

• Active duty military service members must be eligible for the DoW SkillBridge Program and qualified for a SkillBridge administrative leave period of up to 180 days.
• You may be eligible to participate if you have 180 days of service (or fewer) remaining prior to your date of military discharge and have at least 180 continuous days of active military service.
• Obtain approval from your unit commander.
• Able to meet current requirements set forth by the National Fire Protection Association and the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Act.

Qualifications

• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
