About the Program

This is a 10-week training program that prepares transitioning service members for a full-time career as a Field Engineer with RES. Through a combination of structured instruction, mentor-guided field exposure, and hands-on project support, participants will build practical knowledge in construction site safety, project documentation, daily reporting, scheduling, resource tracking, quality processes, environmental compliance, and field coordination.

The program is designed to help participants apply their military experience to utility-scale renewable energy construction projects while developing the technical, operational, and communication skills needed to support safe and effective project execution.

This opportunity is especially well aligned to service members from backgrounds such as Navy Engineering Aide, Army Technical Engineer, Army Engineer Officer, Navy Construction Electrician, Air Force Engineering, Navy Builder, Air Force Civil Engineer Officer, Army Horizontal Construction Engineer, Marine Corps Combat Engineer Officer, and Air Force Electrical Systems. However, RES welcomes interest from transitioning service members across other military occupational specialties who have relevant aptitude, a strong safety mindset, and an interest in building a career in renewable energy construction.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering or construction management (or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
  • Service members must receive command approval to participate in the SkillBridge program.
  • Candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment background investigation and drug test as a condition of the program.

Program Details

Anticipated October 2026 SkillBridge start. We encourage early interest due to approval timelines.

Service members interested in a full-time position at the end of the training program should note that the full-time position requires heavy travel (76-100%) on a rotation basis.

The training location is anticipated to be in Arkansas (near Little Rock) and Arizona (near Lake Havasu City). Final location will be determined closer to the training program start.

SkillBridge participants are not employees of RES and are not eligible for compensation or employee benefits from RES. Some training assignments may require relocation to a project site for the duration of the program.

To offset program-related expenses associated with required travel/relocation, RES provides a per diem and phone stipend (as applicable). There is no direct cost to the Service Member to participate in this SkillBridge training opportunity.
