About the role
The Code and Compliance Group (CCG) within Bureau Veritas North America is a specialized division focused on helping organizations navigate complex regulatory frameworks, building code requirements, and compliance standards across multiple industries and jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
- Interpretation and application of building codes (IBC, local/state/provincial codes)
- NFPA standards compliance (fire safety, electrical, life safety systems)
- Environmental regulations and permitting
- Occupational safety standards (OSHA, provincial equivalents)
- Industry-specific compliance frameworks
- Compliance audits against applicable codes and regulations
- Gap analysis and remediation planning
- Pre-inspection readiness reviews
- Documentation and record verification
- Risk assessment and mitigation strategies
- Code interpretation guidance for complex or ambiguous requirements
- Design review and compliance verification during project development
- Regulatory pathway planning for new facilities or modifications
- Training and knowledge transfer to client teams
- Third-party inspections aligned with regulatory requirements
- Testing and commissioning support
- Certification documentation preparation
- Ongoing compliance monitoring programs
Requirements
- Active duty military status
- Strong understanding of building codes, NFPA standards, environmental regulations, and occupational safety standards
- Experience with compliance audits and remediation planning
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in digital tools and compliance management platforms
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in inspection, testing, or compliance services
- Professional certifications in relevant fields (e.g., PE, CIH, fire protection specialist)
Skills
- Technical competency in code application and compliance strategy
