Skid Steer Operator for Snow Removal

Alts Operation · Verona, WI · 1 mo ago
Management$32–$38/hrFull-time

About the role

Run a skid steer clearing commercial lots storm after storm, earn strong winter pay, and turn one strong season into year‑round skid steer work. You’ll clear commercial and residential lots by pushing, stacking, and loading snow the moment a storm hits, working in tight spaces around parked cars, islands, curbs, and pedestrians.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a skid steer to clear snow from commercial lots, residential lots, drive lanes, and islands.
  • Stack, push, and load snow in tight spaces without damaging property.
  • Read the site and the storm, prioritize accounts, and work through all lots until completion.
  • Perform pre‑ and post‑run checks, fueling, and basic maintenance to keep the machine storm‑ready.
  • Stay in contact with your manager throughout the event to ensure nothing is missed.
  • Maintain safety around vehicles, pedestrians, and low‑visibility conditions.

Requirements

  • Prior experience operating a skid steer or compact loader, preferably in snow removal or construction.
  • Valid driver’s license (motor‑vehicle record will be reviewed).
  • Confidence working in tight commercial lots around vehicles and pedestrians, including in low visibility.
  • Availability for a seasonal winter role (approximately November through April) with on‑call storm response: nights, weekends, holidays, and long shifts.
  • Dependability to respond quickly when forecasts call for snow; aim to clear properties within about 12 hours of a storm.
  • Physical stamina to work long, outdoor, on‑call shifts in cold, snow, and ice, climbing in and out of the machine.

Pay

Seasonal pay of $32–$38 per hour. Overtime is paid at time‑and‑a‑half for hours over 40 in a week.

Schedule

Seasonal winter position (roughly November through April) with on‑call storm response, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as needed. The goal is to clear each property within about 12 hours of a storm.

Benefits

  • Uniforms and personal protective equipment provided.
  • Overtime paid at time‑and‑a‑half.
  • Potential transition to full‑time status, which includes 401(k) with company match, health, dental, life, and disability insurance.
  • Path to year‑round work for operators who perform well.
  • Steady storm hours with one of the largest snow and ice operations in the area.
  • Well‑maintained skid steers and equipment, with a supportive crew.
  • Family‑oriented company culture, 13 years in business and growing.
