Skid Steer Operator
Safety Protocols and Guidelines
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely operate skid steer loaders to perform tasks such as lifting, loading, and moving materials.
- Use various attachments (e.g., buckets, forks, augers) to accomplish different tasks.
- Prepare sites by clearing debris and grading the ground.
- Maintain equipment, ensuring it is clean, fueled, and functioning properly.
- Load and unload materials from trucks or other transportation vehicles.
- Transport materials around the job site.
- Conduct pre-operational checks and report any issues or malfunctions.
- Cook with other workers and supervisors to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
- Communicate effectively regarding progress, issues, and any necessary adjustments.
- Maintain logs or reports of equipment usage, maintenance, and any incidents or issues encountered.
- Stay updated on new equipment, attachments, and techniques.
- Participate in training sessions and certifications as required.
- Assist with other tasks as needed.
Qualifications (Experience, Education & Certifications, Key Attributes)
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Thorough operational knowledge and skills of related equipment to be operated.
- MUST have 3 years previous experience.
- Pass pre-employment screen and criminal background check.
- Willing to work holidays, weekends and overtime as needed.
- Swear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas.
- Great attention to detail and stress tolerance.
- 2-5 years experienced as skid steer operator or any related job in a construction or mining industry.
Physical Requirements
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks at a worksite or moving from one worksite to another.
- Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, such as stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Adjusting, moving and lifting objects in all directions.
- Talking and hearing to communicate with others.
- Seeing to perform job duties at close range, such as monitors or screens.
- Seeing to perform job duties at a distance, such as driving or operating equipment.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like.
- Operating machinery and/or power tools.
- Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Traveling regionally or nationally.
