Skid Steer Operator

About the role

A skilled and reliable Skid Steer Operator is needed to perform site preparation, material handling, and general maintenance while adhering to all safety protocols and ensuring efficient project completion.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate skid steer loaders to lift, load, and move materials.
• Use various attachments (e.g., buckets, forks, augers) for different tasks.
• Prepare sites by clearing debris and grading the ground.
• Maintain equipment, ensuring it is clean, fueled, and functioning properly.
• Load and unload materials from trucks or other transportation vehicles.
• Transport materials around the job site.
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Conduct pre-operational checks and report any issues or malfunctions.
• Coordinate with other workers and supervisors to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
• Communicate effectively regarding progress, issues, and necessary adjustments.
• Maintain logs or reports of equipment usage, maintenance, and incidents.
• Stay updated on new equipment, attachments, and techniques.
• Participate in training sessions and certifications as required.
• Assist with other tasks as needed.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Thorough operational knowledge and skills of related equipment.
• Minimum of 3 years of previous experience as a Skid Steer Operator.
• Pass pre-employment screen and criminal background check.
• Willingness to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
• Great attention to detail and stress tolerance.
• 2-5 years of experience as a skid steer operator or in a related construction/mining role.
