Ski + Ride School Instructor – Winter Season

Primarily responsible for teaching alpine skiing and/or snowboarding to guests aged 2 through adult. Lessons emphasize safety and fun, using methods prescribed by the Winter Park Ski & Ride School to meet or exceed guest expectations. The resort promotes professional development with on-snow training and financial aid for PSIA/AASI certification exams. Instructors are eligible for sales incentives, hourly incentives, and tips.
Responsibilities
- Teach lessons as assigned, including groups, private lessons, or special programs for adults and/or children ages 2-14, using current methods and age-appropriate tactics.
- Work assignments vary daily.
- Maintain a friendly, engaged, and helpful demeanor toward guests and employees at all times.
- Report to all assignments on time and at the correct location.
- Use phone and email to communicate with staff and guests, review schedules and pay, and maintain accurate class records.
- Facilitate guests’ needs throughout the day, including bio breaks, meals, using lifts, etc. Children must be escorted at all times.
- Prioritize guest safety as well as your own; proactively resolve or report concerns.
- Support operations, including greeting guests, shadowing or assisting others, operating surface lifts, and setup/cleanup.
- Set a positive and professional example for other employees and guests.
- Maintain sufficient physical conditioning.
- Adhere to all Ski + Ride School and Resort policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 18 or older on start date.
- Enjoys working outside with guests of all ages and abilities.
- Experience working with children is preferred.
- Experience coaching or teaching any subject is preferred.
- Must ski parallel or ride switch on all green and groomed blue terrain; ability may be evaluated.
- Must own or have regular access to all appropriate gear; gear may be inspected for safety.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Pay
- Hourly Teaching Wage Range: $21 – $45.15 depending on experience.
- Hourly Non-Teaching Wage: $20.
- Private Lesson Request Incentive starts at $9/hour.
- Hourly teaching incentives and tips are available.
Schedule
This position is required to work weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to walk, talk, see, hear, stand, ski or snowboard, utilize a chairlift or gondola, and navigate uneven or challenging terrain.
- Must lift, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions
- Constantly exposed to harsh and varying outside weather conditions.
- Noise level in the workplace is usually moderate.
