Responsibilities

• Teach alpine skiing in first-time through expert ability zones (based on experience and certification) using PSIA/AASI teaching methodology and following mountain safety codes
• Arrive dressed, equipped, and at the meeting location for lessons on time
• Adhere to lesson times, lunch breaks, and Ski School schedules
• Plan, organize, and implement appropriate ability zone plans for each ski lesson
• Conduct lessons in a professional manner
• Attend instructor meetings, training, and performance reviews
• Adhere to Ski School and HR policies and procedures
• Display professional conduct with parents, children, and caregivers in all situations
• Write daily progress cards for students and their parents
• Perform other duties as assigned

Deer Valley Skier Services Expectations

• Exemplify a strong work ethic and function as a team player
• Interact positively with members of the Skier Services peer group, instructors, agents, and supervisors
• Communicate suggestions or concerns to supervisors and managers in a timely manner
• Speak and act professionally while on duty
• Support and follow Deer Valley Resort policies and procedures, including the DV Employee Handbook, Ski School Instructor Guide, and Instructor Pay Guide
• Maintain a positive, supportive attitude as a role model for others

Requirements

• Current Alpine Level 1 certification or foreign equivalent and either:
  • 300 hours of Deer Valley experience, or
  • 400 hours of alpine ski teaching experience
• Excellent guest service skills
• Able to ski first-time to expert terrain in variable conditions
• Able to lift 40 lbs., stand/ski six to nine hours, and perform bending, lifting, and twisting movements
• Able to work in variable weather and snow conditions
• Willing to work weekends and holidays
• Own and use alpine ski equipment
