Ski Instructor (Experienced)
About the Role
Brighton Resort is seeking passionate, experienced ski instructors dedicated to teaching and creating exceptional guest experiences. This seasonal full-time or part-time position starts in mid-November, with a typical schedule of 8:45 am - 4 pm, 1-5 days per week, including potential evening classes. Instructors will share their expertise through private lessons, group programs, and multi-week lesson series for skiers of all ages and abilities in a supportive, collaborative culture that values development and continuous learning.
Responsibilities
- Attend mandatory paid training for experienced instructors on Nov 21 and 22 (or rescheduled to Nov 21, Dec 5, and 6 if snow conditions are poor).
- Ensure the safety and learning of students in lessons.
- Teach students of all ages and abilities.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, resort staff, and guests.
- Engage in continuing education, including teaching tactics, sliding skills, and people skills.
- Perform other duties related to the daily operation of the Ski School.
- Work outdoors in a winter mountain environment in a physically strenuous and mentally demanding role for the full operating season.
- Arrive by 8:45 AM unless teaching an afternoon or evening shift (some weekends, holidays, or powder mornings may require arriving at the mouth of the canyon by 7:00 AM due to traffic).
- Complete additional training before teaching solo.
- Work every Saturday and/or Sunday during multi-week programs for consistency.
- Full-time instructors (4-5 days/week) must teach at least 2 afterschool programs per week from January through March and work 5 days a week in March for spring break.
- Part-time instructors must work at least 1 day per week consistently on a Saturday or Sunday and teach one afterschool program (4:30-6:30 PM) once a week for 8 weeks starting in January.
- Wear a Brighton uniform, black pants, a nametag, and a helmet while working.
- Use a personal phone for communication, scheduling, guest contact, and approving daily timesheets.
- Complete and submit digital report cards for each student.
- Work 4.5 to 6 hours per day when scheduled (work is not guaranteed daily due to demand).
Requirements
- 18+ years old.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
- Experience working with students of varying ages, skills, and group sizes.
- Intermediate+ skiing or snowboarding skills.
- Employment contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
- PSIA or AASI certification is a plus but not required.
- A growth mindset (openness to learning and feedback).

Pay
Instructors are paid an hourly wage plus a "student incentive" per student. This is a commission-based role.
