About the role
The Campbell Recreation & Community Services Department is seeking motivated, energetic, team-oriented individuals with experience in skateboarding who enjoy working with youth. This position will plan, conduct and supervise activities including skateboarding skill development and other activities for children ages 6 to 14.
Responsibilities
- Schedule June – August: Weekdays, ~20 hours a week
Summer camps run June through August from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
September – May: Weekends, ~3-5 hours a week
Classes run September through June on Sundays from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.
Private lessons are scheduled based on staff and facility availability. - Supervise and teach skateboarding skills to different ages and ability levels in a group setting
- Create appropriate lesson plans for each session/skill level
- Able to communicate and demonstrate skills to participants
- Able to motivate and educate varying ages and abilities with the basic skills and techniques of skateboarding
- Maintain open communication with Recreation Coordinator and Supervisor about weekly programming
- Maintain cleanliness of Skate Park before and after instruction allowing safe use of the facility
- Additional responsibilities as needed
Requirements & Physical Demands
- Must have knowledge of the skills required for giving instruction
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Able to demonstrate skateboarding skills
- Must be able to conduct activities standing, skateboarding, walking and sitting
- Conduct activities involving climbing, stooping, kneeling, bending and reaching on a moderate basis
- Experience working with or instructing youth, though not required
Certificates And Licenses
- First Aid, CPR & AED certified, training will be provided upon hire.

Selection Process
- The most qualified applicants as determined by initial screening of applications will be invited to participate in an interview and lifeguard skills practical testing.
- Selections will be made from the results of the interviews and skills testing.
Tuberculosis Test
- Tuberculosis test results must be submitted prior to scheduled employment.
