About the role
Lead knowledge development in problem solving across the STA organization
Provide technical support to colleagues as the subject matter expert in various problem-solving techniques and tools
Coach and support on projects as well as training exercises
Complete project work on critical issues
Responsibilities
- Provide training to STA team members
- Coach to STA team members
- Drive use of triage script for critical issues
- Support Stage 3 disputes to provide objective analysis
- VHM specific cradle to grave FASS/PAC support
- Complete Engineering duties
- Utilize process engineering skills to understand the physics used to create parts and trouble shoot problems
- Complete engineering analysis using CAE and free body diagrams to understand the forces applied to parts and systems that are causing things to break or wear out
- Calculate stress on parts and systems and the strength of parts and systems
- Calculate flow rate of air and fluids to understand problems related to power, cooling and heating systems
- Determine simple chemical equations of reactions occurring between materials
- Analyze the stress strain curve properties for parts that are failing to understand why metals and plastics are causing problems
- Create or analyze electrical diagrams to help understand how systems are supposed to help diagnose problems
- Complete reliability engineering work with Weibull and other distributions to understand the failure rate to determine if issues are infant mortality or wear out conditions and also predict rate of future failures
- Use engineering skills to develop solutions to problems
- Utilize Ford’s warranty systems and other databases to identify the biggest issues and use the data to determine contrasts to help drive problem solving process
- Apply Strategic Problem Solving to use strategies to determine the physics, chemistry, electricity, etc. causing the failures and drive to resolution
- Use 6-Sigma skills including Measurement Systems Analysis, process capability, hypothesis tests, pairwise comparisons, Design of Experiments, Multi-vary analysis, multiple regression, reliability analysis, etc. to complete tests and analyze data
- Utilize the 3x5 why process to drive to systemic root cause and systemic improvements
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science/Engineering, or equivalent technical/manufacturing aptitude
- 2+ years of Plant Manufacturing experience
- Problem Solving Skills – Black Belt (preferred) and Strategic Problem-Solving Knowledge
- Proven analytical skills with a passion for 6 Sigma, exposure to Quality Tools and knowledge of Ford’s problem solving techniques, data analysis and statistical tools
- Experience using Minitab
Qualifications
- Strong communication and team building
- Knowledge of vehicle or powertrain component commodities, functions and related features
- Ability to speak and write in English & Spanish language fluently to effectively communicate with the global team
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time

Pay
- Salary grade 7 and ranges from $84,480-141,360
- Salary grade 8 and ranges from $96,720-162,120
