Site Superintendent

About the role

This full-time position supports the Construction department, working primarily on job sites. The Project Superintendent is responsible for supervising and completing project fieldwork through direct site supervision of subcontractors, regular site visits, and inspections. Fieldwork is expected to be completed in accordance with project specifications, drawings, and the established project schedule. The Project Superintendent ensures the site is clean, orderly, and work is performed safely and in an environmentally friendly manner.

Responsibilities

• Perform assigned tasks with the highest level of integrity and honesty at all times.
• Represent Formcraft in a professional and courteous manner.
• Maintain a harmonious working environment with clients and subcontractors.
• Adhere to company policies listed in handbooks.
• Carry out any legal, moral, and company-aligned tasks requested.

Construction / Project Execution

• Ensure the site is clean, orderly, and hazard-free.
• Communicate errors or discrepancies in project design documents to the Formcraft Project Manager (PM) via RFIs.
• Identify and coordinate with the Formcraft PM on issuance and resolution of Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Provide daily communication of project status to the Formcraft PM.
• Monitor and direct project field progress against the established schedule.
• Ensure fieldwork complies with design documents and applicable codes.
• Verify onsite project design documents are the latest revision and updated with field redlines.
• Schedule and confirm work dates with subcontractors to support project completion.
• Monitor work quality through frequent site walkdowns.
• Monitor subcontractor field staffing levels and request adjustments as needed.
• Document work quality issues and proactively resolve them with subcontractors.
• Conduct weekly site subcontractor meetings as required.
• Resolve field scope conflicts with subcontractors.
• Coordinate delivery, receipt, and inspection of materials/equipment to the site.
• Coordinate site inspections by third parties (e.g., local authorities, code inspections, fire marshal).
• Coordinate required site inspections and/or testing by subcontractors or vendors.
• Maintain and document a project punchlist throughout the project.

Safety

• Ensure the site is clean, orderly, and hazard-free.
• Monitor site conditions and subcontractor work practices for compliance with safety standards.
• Monitor, identify, and communicate site hazards to subcontractors and the Formcraft PM.
• Implement standard Formcraft site safety practices, including documented site orientation for subcontractors, Job Safety Analysis (JSAs), and on-site safety equipment (First Aid, signage, etc.).
• Notify the Formcraft PM and/or Department Manager regarding all safety incidents, including near misses.
• Assist the Formcraft PM with incident investigations and documentation (including near misses).

Client Management

• Establish and maintain a respectful and professional customer relationship.
• Work with the Formcraft PM to respond to and resolve customer concerns in a timely manner.

Change Management

• Communicate customer or subcontractor field change requests to the Formcraft PM in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with the Formcraft PM to define scope, estimated costs, and schedule impacts for Change Requests.
• Ensure documented customer approval is received for Change Requests prior to field implementation.

Project Closeout

• Coordinate with subcontractors to timely close out punchlist items.
• Coordinate with the Formcraft PM on project close-out (final invoicing, close-out documentation).
• Assist the Formcraft PM in compiling, organizing, and delivering close-out documents.

Requirements

Physical Requirements

• Occasionally lift objects up to 100 lbs.
• Sit for hours at a desk or in meetings, with occasional standing and walking.
• Occasionally work long hours, nights, or weekends.
• Use safety equipment on a construction site.
• Follow OSHA regulations and company policies with care and professionalism.
• Work in an open office setting with noise, talking, and others working nearby.
• Work in a construction environment involving loud noises, dirty environments, and standard construction hazards.
• Operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Participate in site surveys and any climbing of ladders required to complete surveys.
