Responsibilities
- Manage and enforce IEI's Safety Program for the assigned project(s).
- Identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions leading to injury and/or property damage.
- Use and enforce job-specific safety standards, best management practices, and IEI's safety program.
- Ensure the safety of all persons and property on the job site resulting in an accident/incident-free project.
- Conduct weekly "Toolbox Safety Meetings" and document content and attendance.
- Conduct Safety Orientations for new employees.
- Advise project staff on site-specific safety issues and guidelines.
- Evaluate the need for safety training and make recommendations.
- Train employees in aerial lifts, confined spaces, trenching/evacuation, forklifts (standard & rough terrain), electrical & lockout/tagout (NFPA 70E).
- Enforce safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all state, federal, local regulations (including OSHA), as well as IEI company policies and owner/contractual requirements.
- Assess situations in the field and develop plans to move forward safely.
- Conduct daily and/or weekly (as appropriate or specified by job) job site inspections.
- Record observations from site inspections and complete required reports.
- Investigate, corroborate, and document all accidents, incidents, and near misses on the jobsite.
- Recommend and implement corrective actions based on policies, guidelines, and laws.
Requirements
- A degree in occupational safety and health or related field.
- OSHA 30 Certification within the past 5 years.
- 3+ years safety experience in construction or similar industry fulfilling a health and safety role.
- Electrical certifications a plus.
