About the role
You will manage project-specific safety and health programs to ensure compliance and the well-being of Haskell employees, contract partner employees, client personnel, and the general public. You will evaluate and coordinate project activities to comply with the rules and regulations set forth by EM385-1-1, OSHA CFR 1926, company policies and procedures, and site-specific rules and regulations applicable to project safety.
Responsibilities
- Participates in safety pre-planning and hazard analysis for upcoming work activities
- Coordinates with project superintendents and project team members in the review of project schedules
- Attends pre-planning meetings, subcontractor pre-construction meetings, and coordination meetings as required
- Conducts Site Specific Safety Orientation for all employees and contracts partners upon arrival on site
- Maintain employee and sub-contractor’s employee required safety documentation (i.e.) Competent Persons Documents, Equipment Qualifications, Specific Training Records
- Ensures contractors complete daily Safe Work Plans, and Permits and review them with work crews before starting work activities
- Affirm record-keeping and reporting guidelines as required by regulatory agencies, client-specific requirements, and company policies
- Affirm the development of Activity Hazard analyses (AHA’s) for all contract partners. Obtain required signatures and formally submit them to the GDA for approval
- Conduct documented daily/weekly safety audits (Predictive Solutions) and file in ProCore identifying and documenting deficiencies, corrective measures, and recommendations to prevent reoccurrence. Establish follow-up procedures for ensuring all items identified are corrected in a timely fashion
- Conduct weekly All Hands Safety Meetings
- Conducts accident, incident, and near-miss investigations. Complete Supervisors Incident Investigation Reports and submit them to appropriate personnel
- Provides necessary training/coaching when at-risk observations are observed
- Participates in the enforcement of The Haskell Company Code of Safe Practice throughout the project
- Supports the project superintendent in his efforts to maintain a safe and healthful workplace and assists with additional responsibilities as requested
- Issue hot work, trenching/excavation, and confined space permits as necessary
- Communicates with the assigned Regional Safety Supervisor (RSS) on all project safety incidents
- Accompanies any (authorized outside entities) personnel on safety inspections
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry
- OSHA 30-hour construction industry course within 3 years
- EM385 40-hour certification (can be completed within 90 days of assignment)
- NAVFAC experience
- Experience working OCUNS (outside the continental U.S)
- Crane and rigging knowledge
- Active passport
