About the role
The Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) will oversee health and safety compliance for a hospital renovation and demolition project in San Jose, California.
Responsibilities
- Oversee health and safety compliance for a hospital renovation and demolition project in San Jose, California.
- Work closely with the Corporate Safety Officer, project management team, and subcontractors to implement and enforce site safety programs throughout all phases of construction and demolition activities.
- Lead site safety efforts, conduct inspections and training, manage jobsite safety plans, and ensure compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, hospital ICRA requirements, company safety policies, and applicable state/federal safety standards.
Requirements
- Extensive demolition experience.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Prominent ability to foster a culture of safety while protecting employees, subcontractors, hospital staff, patients, and visitors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in construction safety, preferably in demolition.
- Knowledge of OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and hospital ICRA requirements.
- Experience with safety plan development and implementation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
