SITE SAFETY HEALTH OFFICER

Yukon Management, LLC (YML) is seeking a Site Safety and Health Officer for pending construction projects in New York and New Jersey. The Site Safety and Health Officer will oversee the safety and occupational health program on assigned projects, with authority to act in all safety matters, perform inspections, and enforce safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log including area/operation inspected, date, identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, and estimated/actual dates of corrections.
• Attach safety inspection logs to the Contractors' daily production report.
• Conduct mishap investigations and complete required accident reports; report mishaps and near misses.
• Use and maintain OSHA's Form 300 to log work-related injuries and illnesses for Prime Contractors and subcontractors; make available to the Contracting Officer upon request.
• Post and maintain the Form 300A on the site Safety Bulletin Board.
• Maintain applicable safety reference material on the job site.
• Attend pre-construction conferences, pre-work meetings, preparatory meetings, and periodic in-progress meetings.
• Prepare the written site-specific Activity Hazard Prevention Plan (APP), including confined space entry, lift/critical lift, FP&P, HECP, Excavation, and Site Demolition plans.
• Review the APP and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) for compliance with EM 385-1-1; approve, sign, implement, and enforce them.
• Establish a Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Deficiency Tracking System to monitor outstanding deficiencies until resolution.
• Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
• Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Maintain a weekly list of high-hazard activities involving energy, equipment, excavation, confined space entry, and elevation; discuss details during QC Meetings.
• Provide and record site safety orientation and indoctrination for Contractor employees, subcontractor employees, and site visitors.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience as a Site Safety and Health Officer or equivalent role.
• 5+ years of construction experience on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects; experience with EM 385-1-1 is required.
• Familiarity with EM 385-1-1 and experience writing AHAs and APPs.
• At least 8 hours of documented safety training each year for the last 5 years.
• Current OSHA 30-hour certificate or equivalent within the last 5 years; competent person status as required.
• Federal Construction/DOD experience preferred.
• Strong reasoning, comprehension, and problem-solving skills; ability to analyze problems and make sound decisions based on objectives, risks, implications, and costs.
• Ability to write clearly and informatively, edit work for spelling and grammar, and present numerical data effectively.
• Strong verbal communication skills; ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, listen actively, and respond to questions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project; experience with RMS 3.0 (USACE contracts) required.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills; ability to work well with others and recognize hazardous situations.
• Strong working knowledge of project planning, scheduling for construction trades, and commercial construction practices.
• Detailed knowledge of Risk Management.
• Must pass pre-employment drug test, physical, and background check; maintain a clean record for Government badging/background checks.
