Location: Clarksburg, WV – Jade Creek Construction is seeking a Site Safety Health Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the organization’s environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA, EPA, DA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Proactively identify health, safety, and environmental hazards and implement effective controls to minimize risks.
  • Engage area supervisors in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) reviews or new development.
  • Conduct inspections of departments to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental procedures, document findings, and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver training to all project staff on topics such as bloodborne pathogens, lockout/tagout, hazard communication, defensive driving, powered industrial trucks, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Manage environmental programs, including maintaining permits, ensuring ISO 14001 compliance, and overseeing hazardous waste collection and satellite accumulation areas.
  • Select, maintain, and service equipment for health, safety, and environmental protection (e.g., PPE, eye‑wash stations, fire extinguishers, forklifts).
  • Respond to health, safety, and environmental incidents, notify relevant company and customer personnel, investigate incidents, and report findings with corrective actions.
  • Interface with subcontractors on environmental, health, and safety matters.
  • Generate and submit reports on health, safety, and environmental metrics as required by management or regulation.
  • Maintain all records related to safety, health, and environmental protection in accordance with programs, policies, regulations, or contract clauses.
  • Utilize incident reporting and other health, safety, and environmental systems as required by the company.
  • Manage employee and stakeholder engagement in site health, safety, and environmental programs (e.g., safety committee, safety awareness program).

Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in safety, health, and environmental programs.
  • Expert understanding of applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations for the site.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of related field experience directing vertical construction projects in a superintendent, QC, or SSHO role.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Completion of the course “Construction Quality Management for Contractors” or ability to complete within 30 days of hire.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA 1926, 1910, and USACE EM‑385‑1‑1 regulatory requirements as they pertain to heavy industrial or commercial construction.
  • Working knowledge of applicable environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Completed the 30‑hour OSHA Construction Safety course or ability to complete within 30 days of hire.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the USACE 3‑Phase Quality Control System.
