About the role
The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) is the L1 SSHO at our organization, serving as key personnel with the technical knowledge and skills to anticipate, recognize, and evaluate hazardous conditions. They are responsible for ensuring all associates and subcontractors work in an environment free from recognized hazards.
Responsibilities
- Implement and evaluate the safety and health program, including the Accident Prevention Plan (APP).
- Obtain and report incident/injury investigation documents to our corporate office in a timely manner.
- Provide necessary safety training and orientation to all associates and subcontractors, covering topics such as Hazard Communication, Fall Protection, PPE, Control of Hazardous Energy (LOTO), and QHSE policies.
- Review and participate in team efforts with customer's WBAMC safety programs, focusing on Fire Protection, Infection Control (IC), ILSM, EOC, and compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation standards/requirements.
Requirements
- OSHA 30-hour training card (or course completion certificate within 90 calendar days of training).
- Resume or certificates demonstrating at least 5 years of continuous safety experience in supervising or managing general industry/construction/O&M, including managing safety programs or processes and conducting hazard analyses.
- A detailed description of any training without a certificate.
- Knowledge of the USACE EM385-1-1 safety manual is desirable.
- Ability to work long hours, or after hours, on call for weekend work.
- Current driver's license for driving inside military base Ft. Liberty.
- Security clearance for a common access card (CAC).
- Good report writing and computer skills, including proficiency in entering data on government forms, creating corporate summary reports, incident report writing, and using Excel, Word, Acrobat, etc.
