Site Reliability Engineer - Video Platform - USDS

About the role

TikTok USDS Video Platform team is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to improve the reliability of TikTok's video system.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for overall reliability of TikTok's video system, including video publishing and distribution.
• Perform lifecycle management of production systems including change management, service deployment, operations and emergency response.
• Maintain system service level agreement (SLA) by monitoring the system and responding to incidents.
• Manage compute, storage and network bandwidth resources to ensure system stability and save infrastructure costs.
• Support during big events to ensure the system is capable of handling high volumes of internet traffic.
• Build tools, automations, visualizations and monitors to facilitate the operation and optimization of the global infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical background, or equivalent experience.
• Programming experience with at least one of the following languages: C, C++, Java, Python, C#, or Go.

Preferred Qualifications: Extensive knowledge of networking, operating systems, database systems, and container technology; good understanding of microservices architecture and troubleshooting in large-scale distributed systems; hands-on experience with Linux, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, and ELK; experience with AWS, Google, Azure, and other cloud services; passion, self-motivation, and teamwork skills.

Job Information

[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (Annually): The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $112,725 - $177,840 annually. Compensation may vary based on a number of factors, including qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. Additional discretionary bonuses/incentives and restricted stock units may be available. Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees receive 10 paid holidays, 10 paid sick days, and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
