About the role
Site Reliability Engineer II – San Francisco Bay Area hybrid, 24/7 FedRAMP Operations, rotational shift, initial contract through March 27. This role requires U.S. citizenship and residence on U.S. soil; it sits within a FedRAMP Moderate‑authorized environment, making FedRAMP suitability and U.S.-soil-only eligibility non‑negotiable. The position demands real ownership from day one: engineers who can read a Kibana query at 3 a.m., distinguish a blip from a breach, and act on it on a FedRAMP‑authorized cloud platform that cannot afford downtime. Ideal for someone with a couple of years of SRE or cloud support experience looking to build FedRAMP and GovCloud expertise.
Responsibilities
- Real‑time monitoring and first‑response triage across AWS (Commercial/GovCloud) and EKS infrastructure.
- Log‑level root cause investigation in Kibana and Elasticsearch – digging, not just escalating.
- CVE remediation and STIG hardening on your patch within FedRAMP SLA windows.
- Deployment execution and troubleshooting via GitLab CI/CD, ArgoCD, and Argo Workflows.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, systems administration, or cloud support.
- Solid Linux administration (RHEL, Amazon Linux, Ubuntu) and comfort with bash/Python scripting.
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes/EKS, AWS core services, and L4/L7 load‑balancing troubleshooting.
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and ChatOps via Slack.
- U.S. citizenship and U.S.-soil residency with genuine availability for overnight/weekend rotational shifts (non‑negotiable).
Benefits
- Defined engagement: Mid‑September through end of March with clear shift expectations up front.
- Competitive W2 hourly rate: $60‑$90/hr, inclusive of overnight/weekend shift premium (DOE).
- Genuine reference point for FedRAMP/GovCloud experience on your CV and a stepping stone toward Senior SRE.
- Real support from a delivery partner that treats contractors like people, not just headcount.
Schedule
- Rotational shift work requiring overnight and weekend availability.
- Contract period: Mid‑September to end of March.
