Site Operations Leader, 1MHS - Field Fixed
About the role
The Site Operations Leader serves as the central engineering coordinator for large-scale material handling equipment (MHE) installation projects in greenfield and brownfield Amazon fulfillment environments. You will work directly alongside installation teams on active construction sites, owning the project schedule and coordinating all on-site project teams, sub-team leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver complex MHE systems from equipment receipt through commissioning.
Responsibilities
Own and maintain the project schedule for MHE installation across assigned greenfield and brownfield sites
Coordinate daily activities across all on-site project teams including mechanical installation, electrical installation, controls integration, and commissioning
Lead daily site coordination meetings to align all installation teams on priorities, constraints, and upcoming milestones
Track critical path items across all sub-teams and proactively identify and mitigate schedule risks
Manage inter-team dependencies — ensuring predecessor work is complete before successor teams mobilize
Coordinate site access timelines, aligning MHE first access dates with installation and commissioning schedules
Create and maintain integrated project schedules coordinating engineering, supply chain, construction, and commissioning timelines
Monitor and report KPIs for schedule adherence, budget performance, and installation progress
Coordinate MHE equipment storage, sequencing, and shipment logistics between manufacturers, third-party storage facilities, and installation sites
Manage equipment inventory tracking across active construction sites to ensure installation teams have materials staged and ready
Develop and manage engineering documentation including receiving instructions, site logistics plans, and installation SOPs
Support development of installation training materials and engineering standards documentation
Contribute to drawing standards and layout reviews for MHE installation projects
Maintain project documentation in alignment with I&D engineering team standards and best practices
Communicate project schedule status, risks, and team coordination updates to engineering leadership
Participate in Daily Business Reviews (DBRs) providing installation progress updates on safety, job plans, and team readiness
Support Weekly Business Reviews (WBRs) with MHE vendor partners covering risks, schedules, commercials, and capacity
Contribute to Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs) with project-level metrics and milestones
Provide technical input to leadership for data-driven decision-making
Identify and escalate inter-team conflicts, resource constraints, and schedule risks in a timely manner
Support achievement of safety, timeline, cost, and quality metrics across assigned sites
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other STEM field
- 5+ years of construction or project management, or 5+ years of relevant discipline work experience
- 3+ years of delivering cross functional projects experience
- 3+ years of in material handling equipment (MHE) or automation environments experience
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM), as well as scheduling software (Primavera, MS Project, or similar)
- Experience leading large, fast-moving projects
- Experience in budgeting, scheduling and technical workflows
- Experience managing multiple projects and priorities across teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to travel up to 75% domestically
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or Business Administration
- 7+ years of experience in construction project coordination or MHE installation environments
- Direct experience with material handling equipment installation (conveyors, sorters, induction systems, robotic work cells)
- Six Sigma Green Belt and/or Lean Manufacturing certification
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience with procurement systems (Coupa, SAP, or equivalent)
- Experience with construction monitoring and progress tracking tools
- Experience with asset tracking technologies (BLE, RFID, or similar)
- Track record of implementing process improvements that increased operational efficiency
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills
- Experience coordinating equipment storage, sequencing, and logistics for large-scale construction deployments
- Experience working in greenfield and brownfield construction environments
