About the role

The Site Medical Director at Outer Cape Health Services (OCHS) plays a critical role in shaping community health. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, this position involves providing clinical care, site leadership, and guiding the professional practice of the Health Center. The incumbent will supervise and mentor providers, participate in organizational initiatives, and communicate organizational direction and policy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive and continuing care to patients through diagnosis and treatment, referring as necessary.
  • Serve as the leader of a clinic team, managing the health of a patient panel and communicating regularly with the team.
  • Supervise and collaborate with other healthcare professionals, ensuring the proper delivery of medical care.
  • Keep accurate and complete medical and other records, participate in audits, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with other physicians and health care professionals, and participate in clinical and staff meetings.
  • Ensure adherence to medicolegal and ethical issues, and provide training on IT resources.
  • Review and provide feedback on budget aspects, set visit targets, and monitor practitioner compliance with medical record policies.
  • Support a team-based, patient-centered model of care, develop clinical schedules, and ensure appropriate staffing.
  • Represent OCHS clinically, participate in fundraising activities, and serve on community boards.
  • Work with the Chief Medical Officer to ensure teaching obligations and coverage schedules are met.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree, board certification in an appropriate specialty, and a current medical license in Massachusetts.
  • CPR and ACLS certifications.
  • A valid and unlimited license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • A valid federal DEA number and any other required state public health certifications.
  • Full privileges as a member in good standing of the Health Center’s Medical/professional staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse and inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in health care leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills including EPIC, Outlook, Microsoft Office, OneDrive, etc.
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member and independently.
  • Matriculation and political affiliation are not considered in hiring decisions.
