About the role

Lead the build, safety, and daily ops of our cutting-edge aerospace composites facility. Grow with a global scale-up.

What will you be doing?

  • Facility Setup & Commissioning
    • Lead the physical buildout of the Dayton facility, including clean room construction, extraction systems, dust control infrastructure, and production floor layout
    • Cook with and manage external contractors, vendors, and suppliers through the setup phase, ensuring timely delivery, quality standards, and cost discipline
    • Spec and commission equipment appropriate for an aerospace composites environment
  • Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Compliance
    • Own and enforce US-specific HSE requirements across the site, including OSHA standards, NFPA regulations, EPA environmental obligations, and state-level codes
    • Develop and maintain site safety procedures, emergency response plans, and environmental management protocols (chemical handling, waste disposal, spill prevention)
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory inspections and ensure the facility is audit-ready at all times
  • Day-to-Day Facility Operations
    • Manage the day-to-day running of the facility: building systems (HVAC, electrical, gas, water), maintenance schedules, security, and general services
    • Act as the on-site point of contact for suppliers, vendors, landlord, and facilities support providers
    • Track and manage facility-related budgets within parameters set by UK headquarters
  • Vendor & Contractor Management
    • Source, evaluate, and manage local vendors and contractors for construction, maintenance, and ongoing facility services
    • Negotiate contracts and ensure competitive pricing while maintaining quality and compliance standards
    • Maintain a disciplined approach to vendor follow-up, ensuring timelines and commitments are met

What do we need from you?

  • 5+ years of facilities management experience within composites, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing environments
  • Demonstrated experience setting up or commissioning mid-size technical workshops, production sites, or manufacturing facilities
  • Strong working knowledge of US health, safety, and environmental regulations (OSHA, NFPA, EPA) as they apply to manufacturing facilities
  • Hands-on understanding of aerospace-grade facility requirements: clean rooms, carbon fibre dust control, extraction systems, fire suppression, and chemical handling
  • Proven ability to manage multiple contractors, vendors, and suppliers simultaneously with cost and schedule discipline
  • Comfortable operating as the most senior operations presence on site, making decisions and escalating appropriately
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset; you will work closely with UK-based leadership and a small but growing US team

Nice to Have

  • Experience with aerospace customer audits and facility accreditation processes (AS9100, Nadcap, or equivalent)
  • Background in equipment commissioning for composites manufacturing (autoclaves, CNC, layup systems)
  • Familiarity with the Dayton/Ohio aerospace and defense ecosystem
  • Experience working in a scale-up or high-growth company environment
